The main cast of "Stranger Things" graced the opening of the recently concluded Golden Globes and shared a major revelation about  the fate of one of the characters of Season 1, Barb. It looks like fans who are still holding out hope for his return in the next season are downright out of luck.

The "La-La-Land"-inspired opening for the ceremony featured the main cast of the series, where Millie Bobby Brown led a rap with her "Stranger Things" co-stars Gaten Mararazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Finn Wolfhard. Towards the end of their performance was the loud and startling proclamation, "Barb is alive!" The audience then saw Barb, portrayed by Shannon Purser, emerging from a pool.

It can be recalled that in "Stranger Things" Season 1, Barb was presumed dead after being taken and killed by the Demogorgon. While the pronouncement towards the end of the Golden Globes opening sequence surprised and thrilled fans, it was not all that it seemed, Game Spot reported.

In her interview with Entertainment Weekly, Millie Bobby Brown said the sequence was just a joke and confirmed that Barb was already dead. "No, she's not alive!" she said, saying that any hope of a possible happy return of the character would be for nothing.

Back in August 2016, "Stranger Things" co-creator also said that the little-used character was almost definitely dead. However, he revealed that her death would not be overlooked in the upcoming season, as there would be some justice for the character.

Without further elaboration, he said justice will be served in the next season. He went on to say that while fans get so frustrated that the town does not seem to deal so much with her death, it is happening. "That stuff is all happening. We're just not spending any screen time on it," he teased.

The upcoming season of "Stranger Things" will feature new cast members, including "Lord of the Rings" actor Sean Astin and "Alien" actor Paul Reiser. The series is currently in production for its second season and is expected to debut sometime this year.
