Speaking with Vanity Fair, "Stranger Things" director and executive producer Shawn Levy revealed that the threat to Will Byers in Season 1 would grow in Season 2. He also promised that the next season would have a bigger cast and would stick with the kind of magical storytelling they had established in the debut season.

The original cast of the series, including Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown, will return for Season 2 and will be joined by "Lord of the Rings" alum Sean Astin and "Mad about You" alum Paul Reiser. Actor Noah Schnapp, who played Will Byers in Season 1 and has just been upgraded to a series regular, revealed that viewers would see more of him in the new season.

"In the last episode, I threw up a slug, so Season 2 begins with what happens from there," he told the publication. He also teased that he may or may not have turned into a monster, so fans should watch the new season to find out what happened to him following the events in the Season 1 finale.

Meanwhile, David Harbour told People about the pressure he feels in meeting the high expectations for Season 2, following the massive buzz earned by the series after its debut. He said, "I love it, it's very strange. Now I am more terrified to go into Season 2 because I feel that pressure. I think we all feel like we want to step it up and make Season 2 richer and more interesting."

The cast and crew of "Stranger Things" have been filming for Season 2 in Atlanta since October 2016. The series recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama Series, while Millie Bobby Brown won the Screen Actors Guild Award for her portrayal of Eleven.
