A streak of hope that Nina Dobrev's character, Elena, will appear in the remaining episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 gets high as Bonnie comes back in Mystic Falls.

Reports suggest that Nina Dobrev may really be coming back in the remaining episodes, although CW has yet to make a confirmation. Fans still hold on to Julie Plec's previous statements via TV Guide that CW and the studio promise a fantastic series finale.

Fans have not yet given up on the possibility that Dobrev will return to the series even if the show has already reached its mid-season episodes. According to Entertainment Weekly, Elena's life was tied to Bonnie's, which means that the former will remain asleep as long as the latter is alive. However, rumors have it that Bonnie's noticeable transformation upon her return to Mystic Falls to reunite with friends might be the cause of her death, which will pave way for Elena's return. However, contradicting reports indicate that Alexandra Chando was casted to replace Dobrev, which makes it unlikely for the latter to return.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the coming episodes will not be an easy one for the Salvatore brothers. Firstly, the two will be joining an anger management support group to look for their next target. According to reports, Stefan and Damon both have set an eye for a young doctor named Tara (Chando).

Another mind-blowing revelation in the upcoming episode is the fact that Sybil is alive all along, working as a school teacher. Unfortunately, she seems to be planning to hostage the whole high school as part of her scheme to compel Caroline to find the historical artifact which can be used against her.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 episode 8, titled "We Have History," is set to premiere on Jan. 13.
