After Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo won the Grand Excellence (Daesang) award at the 2016 KBS Drama Awards, the call for the couple to star again in “Descendants of the Sun 2” became stronger.
Fans of the 31-year-old actor just joined the growing clamor after Song Joong-ki posted on Instagram a photo of himself wearing the army uniform he used in “Descendants of the Sun.” The post got more than 150,000 likes while the actor was flooded with comments for fans.
Requests for DOTS 2
The comments were mostly asking him to star again in the speculated season 2 of the blockbuster drama that broke viewer records in South Korea and China. However, until now there is no confirmation from the producers of the 16-episode blockbuster drama if there would be a season 2 or movie version as fans and media had speculated the past few months.
Some fans are aware of this reality and could only wish the producers would reconsider given the results of the drama awards which indicate how popular the SongSong couple remains. Maxinne.gemzon wrote, “We miss you I wish descendants of the sun has part 2.”

Similarly, sotirialazaridou posted, “I wish there was a season 2 … I’ll miss my Big Boss.” Mariahaxandrea added, “THIS WAS MY 1st KDrama and my LAST PLEASE HAVE SEASON 2 TOGETHER.”
However, it seems Song Joong-ki was only reminiscing and did not want to give his fans false hope because in his caption for the post, he wrote “DOTS @descendantsofthesun2016.”
Koreanportal noted that in the speculated “Descendants of the Sun 2,” the characters played by the lead stars would be married. However, it should be pointed out that until now all reports about a season 2 or a movie version are figments of the imagination of some entertainment writers or on the wish list of rabid fans of the couple.
