"Twilight" is one of the most popular movie franchises ever to hit the screen and one of the earlier catalysts of book-to-movie adaptations of YA novel series. It has secured a legion of devoted fans who, to this day, still sit yearn for more of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan's eternal love story. Rumors have been circulating that "Twilight" is getting picked up for another movie, which means Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may possibly reunite on screen.
With Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart dating rumors going about incessantly, news of a "Twilight" sequel is definitely keeping fans on their feet. Lionsgate co-chairman, Patrick Wachsberger, has revealed his interest in doing another "Twilight" movie.
"It's a possibility," Wachsberger told ComingSoon.net. "Not a certainty but it's a possibility. It's about Stephenie [novelist Stephenie Meyer]. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we're here for her."
At the moment, Lionsgate is looking at developing new movie franchises that would match the success the company achieved with "The Hunger Games" series. The company has axed the "Divergent: Ascendant" theatrical release due to the poor box office performance of "Divergent: Allegiant."
Another "Twilight" movie seems to be a viable project for Lionsgate. Aside from its popularity, its expansive storyline makes way for various standalone films and potential sequels. For one, Meyer published a book titled "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner." The young character was a newborn vampire who was turned by Victoria as part of her plot to destroy the Cullen family. After Victoria was killed, Bree survived the fight with the Cullens, who wanted to adopt her before the Volturi killed her.
A new "Twilight" movie could also focus on Bella's life as a vampire, with her husband Edward and daughter Renesmee.
Meanwhile, Pattinson will star in the upcoming movie "Lost City of Z" will Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller and Tom Holland. The epic story centers on Percy Fawcett (Hunnam) who travels to the Amazon in search of an advanced civilization, E! News reported. Despite receiving doubts from his colleagues, Hunnam returns to the Amazon to search for evidence about the lost city.
