Freddie Stroma, who played Samwell Tarly's brother Dickon in "Game of Thrones" Season 6, will no longer return for Season 7. This was confirmed by Stroma himself during the 2017 Winter Television Critics' Association (TCA) press tour in Pasadena, California on Jan. 11.

The actor told IGN that he would not be able to reprise his role as Dickon because he already had a prior commitment. Stroma is currently busy filming for the new ABC series "Time After Time," which he represented at the press tour.

"I was shooting this, so my character, I wouldn't be able to go back now," Stroma said. However, he said it was fun being in the world of "Game of Thrones" even just for a moment. The actor revealed he had watched all of the seasons of the series and he must say it was an incredible TV show.

In Season 6, Stroma made a short appearance in the episode titled "Blood of My Blood," where he played Samwell Tarley's younger brother during an intense dinner scene, Entertainment Weekly reported. He admitted that when he was initially tapped to do the role, he was told that there was a chance for his character to come back at some point in the future. However, he had no choice but to sit Season 7 out due to his regular commitments with "Time After Time."

Stroma said no matter how brief his time in "Game of Thrones" had been, he was happy to have given the chance to inhabit Westeros. He said, "Even just to get such a toe in there is fun. Just to be on set and kind of feel like I was in that world, I was a fan sitting there at the table doing that scene."

Meanwhile, just because Stroma has already confirmed that he would not be back for Season 7 does not necessarily mean that his character Dickon would not be back as well. In November, a report by Watchers on the Wall claimed that Dickon was recast and would be played by "Black Sails" actor Tom Hopper, but HBO has yet to confirm or deny the report.
