With the likes of Google, Xperia, and Motorola already releasing Android Nougat-based smartphones, Asus has just recently joined this hyped after rolling out the latest 7.0 Nougat firmware on its Zenfone smartphones.

The said update has been rolled out to two versions of the Zenfone 3, with model numbers ZE520KL and ZE552KL. However, the latest update is reportedly downloadable by Zenfone 3 users in the Philippines only, NDTV has learned.

Following the release of Android Nougat in the Zenfone handsets, no further announcement was revealed on the slated release of Android Nougat update on other Zenfone 3 smartphones like the Zenfone Max, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, Zenfone 3 Laser, Zenfone 3 Ultra, and Zenfone 3 Zoom.

Upon release, Asus Zenfone 3 smartphones will be offered with improved interface and functions like the Multi-window support, which allows support for launching two apps at the same time. Through this feature, users can resize the app windows and maximize or minimize any active apps. It also adds the ability to quickly respond to messages directly from the Notifications panel.

Together with the split-screen function, Android 7.0 Nougat will bring the improved Doze battery saving feature in the smartphone. The Doze battery is optimized with increased optimization for Android services.

In addition to this, the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) smartphone has received its OS update as version 12.40.108.17, incorporated with improved stability of touch performance. The update also brings Pure mode in Audio Wizard that get activated when in headphones, and a user tutorial for NFC function. To update manually, users should navigate to Settings>About>System Update on their Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe smartphone.

According to BGR, the Asus Zenfone 3 smartphone comes in two variants, carrying the model numbers ZE520KL and ZE552KL.

Specs-wise, the ZE520KL features a 5.2-inch display, comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. It houses a 2,650mAh battery. On the other hand, the ZE552KL features a 5.5-inch display with 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage. Its battery capacity comes with a 3,000mAh battery.

Both variants exhibit the same specs on the processor and phone display. The phones' display comes in full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, coupled with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. In its internal chassis, the two models is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core chipset clocked at 2GHz and paired with Adreno 506 GPU.

The devices' optics department and connectivity option also share the same features: a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and FM radio support.
