Now it seems that Capcom has finally revealed the reason to bring back the 2v2 team battle in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite"as game co-producer Peter Rosas told EDGE (via Segment Next) that the decision to have the feature back is due to the players were encumbered with too many decisions before a brawl even began as the team sizes are rather unwieldy, as the first and second character picks often were more important than the third, which is typically a tacked on selection.

Simply put, Capcom whittled down the team sizes for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" so as to assist players who are novice or new to the game series, in making the game more accessible and to present a sense of camaraderie among the characters fans select to do battle.

Aside from the 2v2 Team Battles, Capcom also brought back the Infinity Stones to "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" as power-ups that the characters used during battle. For instance, Ryu can use the Power Stone to increase the damage of his attacks, while Captain Marvel can use the Time Stone to be faster and quicker in her attacks.

"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will feature a a single-player Arcade, Training, and Mission mode, as well as a cinematic Story Mode that puts players in between both universes as they fight to the top to take on the game’s new villain who is revealed to be at the end of the cinematic trailer.

In other news, rumors are making rounds regarding the possible final boss of "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" as the Mad Titan Thanos could be the sequel's final opponent due to his connection with the Infinity Stones.

It is speculated by various sources that the Marvel characters in "Marvel vs. Capcom: infinite" will likely be based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will not likely include X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, although there are rumors suggesting they could be DLC fighters.

Still, players will likely face Thanos in the sequel due to his growing popularity in both comics and MCU based films leading to "Avengers: Infinity War", TheBitBag reported. Thanos has been featured in "Marvel Superheroes" fighting game as a final boss and a returning characters in "Marvel vs. Capcom 2".
