The 2011 "Green Lantern" movie starring Ryan Reynolds was met with negative reviews and did not perform well at the box office. With the DCEU now kicking off with films like "Man of Steel," Warner Bros. Pictures confirms they are going to push forward with a "Green Lantern Corps" movie and it will involve writers David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes.

Both writers will collaborate on a reboot which will now be set in the DCEU. It is being described as "Lethal Weapon" in space and its story will be based on a DC comic book, Deadline reported. The exact title of the comic book arc the film is based on was not mentioned.

Goyer will also serve as producer and the movie will have both DC executive Geoff Johns and Warner Bros. Pictures' Jon Berg as executive producers. Goyer and Johns collaborated for the story.

Unlike previous adaptations, "Green Lantern Corps" will not focus on just one superhero but two humans from Earth that are members of the Green Lantern unit. It has been confirmed that these two will be Hal Jordan, previously played by Ryan Reynolds, and John Stewart.

Jordan, in the comic book source materials, is a combat pilot in the United States Air Force. In most versions of the DC comic books he is also the first human to join the Green Lanterns. Stewart is an African-American sniper for the US Marines who later takes up the mantle when Jordan was not available. They also served together as Green Lanterns in the comic books.

Rhodes is still relatively an unknown writer but he has worked with director Guillermo del Toro, penning the script for the upcoming "Fantastic Voyage" remake. This film also has Goyer on board as an executive producer.

Goyer has a prominent role in the DCEU, having penned the script for "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He also penned the script for "Batman Begins" and worked on the stories for both "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

He did work on the script for "Batman v Superman" but his work was later rewritten by Chris Terrio, who was also brought on to pen the script for "Justice League," Collider reported. It is also pointed out that Goyer is a director and may be lining up to direct "Green Lantern Corps" as well.

Hal Jordan or John Stewart are also rumored to appear in any of the two upcoming "Justice League" movies. The trailer for the first "Justice League" can be viewed below:
