The latest details and spoilers will feature Sigourney Weaver's character, formation of the team and a Summer 2017.

It seems that Marvel's Netflix crossover series has some new details to share to comic book fans as the villainous character of "Alien" film star Sigourney Weaver has been announced in the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly Magazine.

Weaver's character is named Alexandria and she is described as an “utter badass” and a perfect fit for Weaver but not much in the way of specifics. Her character is a powerful force in New York and is everything that Weaver is: sophisticated, intellectual and dangerous.

It is hinted that Alexandria in "The Defenders" could be a gender swap version of "Daredevil" character Alexander Bont or perhaps his daughter. Bont was retconned in the Marvel comics to be the first Kingpin of Crime before Wilson Fisk. The Marvel Netlfix series have already gender bent one character in the form of Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) from male to female so it would not be that surprising if they decided to do another, BleedingCool reported.

Meanwhile, Showrunner Marco Ramirez revealed how the Defenders came to be as he explained that Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will pick up with each of the heroes arriving at the offices of Midland Circle. Before the can get properly acquainted, they find themselves trapped in the middle of a corridor, and must battle their way past a barrage of enemies.

Each character will follow their own trail as they try to uncover each individual mystery which culminates to a whole plot. Ramirez added that it will be a serialized story that feels like it is about one kind of contained event and story in our world. It will be one satisfying, self-contained piece, but they never wanted anyone to feel like they are a guest on anyone else’s show. It’s weirdly about all four of them. It’s about all of their collective stories finally folding in on each other.

Lastly,"The Defenders" has officially been confirmed for a summer 2017 release, though no specific premiere date has been announced, it is likely to happen on on June or in May, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

Other characters who are added to the Netflix series include Elektra (Elodie Young), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), and Misty Knight (Simone Missick).

"The Defenders" will premier sometime in 2017 on Netflix.
