The future of the MacBook Air remains shallow with various reports claiming that Apple will be shelving the entry-level variant soon. Regardless, some have not given up hope and continue to weigh in on possible features mostly seen on the latest MacBook Pro class.

The MacBook Pro 2016 series carry impressive new specs. That includes the new TouchID security feature plus some of the recent biometric security features devices now tote. Retina and facial recognition could be good additions to the MacBook Air, expanding the use of the existing iSight camera.

Aside from that, other features that MacBook Air could be armed with include a touch-enabled display, an improved MagSafe plus better processors and battery life. Of the mix, the last couple of features could somehow justify the problems now plaguing the MacBook Pro 2016.

As most know, the MacBook Pro 2016 came out with an Intel Skylake chipset and a 16 GB RAM limit. Such led many to question the power of the Apple notebook which the Cupertino company explained was done for energy efficiency purposes. All this was explained by Apple executive Phil Schiller when he responded to a developer email, according to Macdaddy.io.

The explanation solicited varying reactions with most disappointed with the lack of power for the MacBook Pro 2016. Making things worse was the battery drain issue which was eventually explained to be tied up to a Safari bug, according to an official statement issued by Consumer Reports.

For the MacBook Air, those MacBook Pro shortcomings would have been understandable. Being an entry-level device, specs would have been limited to a certain degree. The pricing standpoint of the MacBook Air is what makes it a viable option to the cost-conscious customers.

This is one reason some groups are hoping that the Cupertino company holds off on speculated shelving plans with the MacBook Pro line not exactly coming cheap. The 13-inch variant in the MacBook Pro lineup is seen as a potential successor though such may need some getting used to aside from the price hike it comes with.
