The "X-Men" film franchise is still going strong and now two live-action series are in development, one launching on FX, titled "Legion," and a currently untitled one on Fox. The latter is getting close to a pilot order and writer Matt Nix has shared details regarding the show's setting and how it connects to the films.

Nix recently attended the winter Television Critics Association panel and spoke with several reporters. During the panel, he explained that the series would not tie in to "Legion" but it would connect in some form to the movies and told The Hollywood Reporter that a pilot pickup was due in a week or two.

The writer did confirm he watched "Legion" to make sure that the work he would do on the Fox series would not contradict the lore the other series was making. He then explained that after seeing "Legion" there was no way his series would step on the other show's story.

However, there will be a strong connection between the show and the films. Nix stated the show and the films exist in the same universe and there will be references to events like the time-altering events of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." He elaborated, "A fan of the movies but also the comics would not be disoriented at all as to where this fits in the mythology."

When asked about the show's premise, Nix stated it would focus on a younger group of mutants instead of the older veterans from the films. The main character would be a teenager who is now on the run, along with his family, after his powers began to manifest.

Also, Nix confirmed there would be new mutants that fans of the comic books would recognize as well as characters from the films. He did not elaborate on which mutants from the franchise would be appearing in the series.

This is not the first time Fox attempted to launch a live-action "X-Men" series, Game Spot reported. The network did try last year with a show titled "Hellfire" but it was cancelled in favor of the series Nix is now involved in.

No official title or premiere date has yet been announced. The trailer for the next major film "Logan" can be viewed below:
