Lenovo-backed tech manufacturer ZUK is planning to release Android Nougat-based smartphones soon according to a Weibo post from a senior Lenovo executive.

Lenovo Group vice president has announced via the Chinese microblogging website Weibo two of its devices, ZUK Z2 and ZUK Z2 Pro, which will be upgraded into the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update next week.

The two devices are initially release last mid-2016 that runs an Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box, with ZUI 2.0 skin on the top.

According to Neurogadget, the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware will be received by the devices initially in the Chinese market with the upgraded custom skin, ZUI 2.5 UI, on top. The update will later expand in European markets.

The Mobile Indian reported that the ZUK Z2 Pro and ZUK Z2 devices were released in China, which are available in two variants, 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage.

Specs-wise, the Lenovo ZUK Z2 packs a 5-inch display with full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the device will be equipped with a 2.15 quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with Adreno 530 GPU.

Its internal chassis sports a 64GB internal storage onboard and 4GB of RAM. This model does not offer an expandable storage slot. Its software runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, while it houses a 3,500 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

Its latest security suite features a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button, which the company claims can unlock the phone in under 0.1 seconds.

In its optics department, the Lenovo Zuk Z2 sports a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture, while its front panel packs an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Its connectivity options include Dual SIM, 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type C. The handset measures 141.65 x 68.88 x 8.45 mm and weighs 149 grams.

Meanwhile, the ZUK Z2 Pro variant features a metallic finish, which wraps a 5.2-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display. Its internal chassis packs a 2.15 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 GPU, and its internal memory sports a 4GB/6GB RAM. The device houses a non-removable 3100 mAh battery, supported by Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

The device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) feature. Its front-snapper packs an 8-megapixel camera. Other features include 4G LTE with VoLTE support, fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, and GPS support.
