International singer Bruno Mars has been confirmed not to perform at the 65th Miss Universe pageant in Manila, Philippines on Jan.30.

Philippine's Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro confirmed that Mars will be preparing for his world tour, which is in conflict with the pageant.  It may be recalled that DOT Secretary Wanda Teo previously refused to comment on rumors that Fil-American star Bruno Mars will be performing on the show.

de Castro said that Miss Universe Organization will make its formal announcement in the coming days, but it hinted that they are experiecing a group and a solo artist.

Department of Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro teased on some of the performers at the forthcoming pageant. In a press briefing, the DOT Undersecretary revealed that it is possible for Kapamilya stars Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, Lea Salonga as well as Jed Madela to perform at the event.

However, Lea Salonga recently announced that she has not received an invitation to perform at the coronation day of Miss Universe. She will be abroad that day and already has prior commitments.

Miss Universe Organization has kept the details under wraps, but has revealed that Steve Harvey will come back as host of the pageant to be joined by model Ashley Graham. Rumor has it that a Filipina will be co-hosting the event, although no official announcement has been made.

Thus, nothing is set in stone until MUO made an official statement on the details of the much awaited pageant. The coronation of the Miss Universe 2016 is on January 30, 2017 at Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
