AMC has officially announced the premiere date for "Better Call Saul" Season 3. The network has also confirmed the return of a popular "Breaking Bad" villain, the infamous Gus Fring, who was Walter White's most terrifying adversary in the series.

The first trailer for "Better Call Saul" Season 3 did not feature actor Giancarlo Esposito as Fring. However, a teaser for Los Pollos Hermanos previously surfaced online, somewhat hinting at the return of the villain.

The character's return was teased in the Season 2 finale when Mike Ehrmantraut, played by Jonathan Banks, stumbled upon a note written by the meth baron on the windshield of his car. The note read, "Don't." While the cliffhanger did not leave any assurance that Fring would return, an advertisement for Los Pollos Hermanos featuring the character back in the role sparked speculations that he would indeed return.

According to The Independent, the creators of the series said at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour held recently that there was no deal in place yet with Esposito, though negotiations were ongoing. Now, showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould have finally confirmed that Esposito will be featured in the new episodes as the same old Fring in "Breaking Bad."

For the three seasons of "Breaking Bad," Esposito played White's worst nemesis and earned an Emmy nomination for the role in 2012. Although his character ultimately died in a gruesome explosion in Season 4, "Better Call Saul" is a prequel to "Breaking Bad" so the upcoming series will show the early years of Saul Goodman, allowing the return of Esposito as Fring.

Meanwhile, the showrunners told TV Line that writing the series, specifically Jimmy's story arc, had been a lot more difficult than they had expected. Gilligan said, "It's a very interesting show that I think quite frankly we thought would be easier to write when we started. For the first two seasons, I think it seemed almost an insoluble probable. This season, as it progressed, it started to understand it a little bit better."

"Better Call Saul" centers on "Breaking Bad" character Saul Goodman during his formative years, when he was still known as Jimmy McGill. Season 3 is set to premiere on April 10 on AMC.
