In 2016, the producers of "Gotham" teased that some of the Bat villain characters that made their debut on the big screen in "Suicide Squad" could make an appearance on the "Batman" prequel. Back then, nobody knew if it was Harley Quinn or Killer Croc. Recently, however, "Gotham" producer John Stevens gave an update on which specific character fans might catch a glimpse of soon.

Ahead of Season 3, Stephens already hinted that a Harley precursor was in the works, although they were uncertain at the time when she would launch. At this point in the series, fans of "Gotham" are happy about the return of Cameron Monaghan as Jerome and are wondering if the character is eventually going to become the Joker. Given that, then it becomes highly likely for the love interest of the Clown Prince of Crime to come to the series soon.

While it was previously teased that Harley Quinn would appear at some point in the future of the series, Stephen's recent interview with TV Guide revealed that the character might come sooner than expected. To be precise, the executive producer said she could pop up before the end of Season 3.

"We might see her in episode 22," Stephens said. The idea of introducing the villainess before the end of the season is grounded on the plan to make the character serve the launching point for the events in "Gotham" Season 4.

Stephens also teased that Season 4 would be crazy, and that its plot could potentially head for a team-up between Jerome and Harley. The announcement was shocking for fans of the series, especially since Harley is one of the most loved female characters in the history of "Batman." According to Comicbook, viewers may not easily recognize the villainess as Dr. Harleen Quinzel when she makes her first appearance on "Gotham." In fact, some fans speculate that actress Erin Richards, who plays Barbara Kean in the series, might eventually turn out to be Harley Quinn, but the actress was quick to dismiss the rumors.

In her interview with Cinemablend, Richards said something major would have to happen to her character before she fully becomes Harley, particularly because the villainess does not have the kind of motivation that Barbara has. She said unlike Harley who destroys for destruction's sake, Barbara destroys with a clear purpose in mind.
