Nokia will reportedly unveil its Android flagship phone in time for the MWC 2017 this coming February but the handset will not be known as Nokia 8. Instead, the public will get to see the long-rumored Nokia P1, which reports said will unpack boasting most of the rumored specs and features for the Nokia 8, including the monster Snapdragon 835 processing chip.

According to Phone Arena, picking up on the details shared by Russian-language Worket, the Nokia P1 will unbox with Android 7.0 Nougat and SD 835 running the show. The latter will be supported by 6GB of RAM for powerful and smooth mobile computing experience.

The build and design of the Nokia P1 is said to be based on the Sharp Aquos Xx3 that WCCFTech said debuted in Japan last year. And like the handset where it is rumored to have been patterned, the Nokia P1 is dust and water resistant thanks to its IP57 certification.

Nokia is said to release the P1 in two storage configurations - the 128GB edition will sell for $800 while the 256GB flavor will lead to cash damage of $950. The pricing details while not yet confirmed appear to indicate that Nokia intends to compete with the flagship devices coming from Apple, Samsung and Google.

And certainly the Nokia P1 will deliver on the usual flagship menu, bannered by a 22.6-megapixel main camera shooter that the same Worket report said is certified by Carl Zeiss.

The handset will rock in 5.3-inch display that is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 though Phone Arena noted on its report that the exact screen resolution was not mentioned in the leaked details. But it's fair to assume that Nokia will deploy the P1 with a 1080p or 2K display if the chief objective is to go against flagship phones that will come out this 2017.

Also in keeping with its flagship status, the Nokia P1 will include the high-end features of fingerprint reader, said to be located on the right side of the device, and a 3500mAh battery that with Quick Charge technology baked in.

HMD Global, now in charge of the Nokia Mobile brand, has yet to indicate a specific release date for the Nokia P1 but if the rumors will prove accurate that the company's Android flagship will be previewed next month via the MWC 2017 in Barcelona then the actual rollout time is likely to happen between March and April this year.
