Southampton is on a downward spiral at the moment as the team lost their last four matches. The team has only won once in their last six outings which dropped them to the 13th spot of the English top flight table, eight points above the bottom three relegation area and a long 18 points below the Europa League qualifying berth held by fifth-place team Manchester City.

The Saints were nipped by newly-promoted side Burnley, 0-1, on the road at the Turf Moor last Saturday, BBC Sport.

After a goalless first half of play, English midfielder Joey Barton netted the lone goal of the contest in the 78th minute for the Clarets, handing head coach Claude Puel's squad their ninth loss of the season.

Meanwhile, Leicester City suffered their 10th defeat this term with a crushing 0-3 encounter with current league leaders Chelsea at their own home ground of King Power Stadium also last Saturday, the Telegraph reported.

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso scored a double in the sixth and 51st minutes before his compatriot Pedro scored the Blues' third goal in the 71st with a close-range header.

Head coach Claudio Ranieri's boys were unable to respond even with a single goal throughout the match as the team succumbed to its fifth winless performance in the last six rounds.

The Foxes are currently in the 15th place in the overall standings after 21 rounds of competitions. They are only five points above the bottom three zone.
