The year 2017 is turning out to be another milestone period for BTS. Recently, the Kpop group received a Shorty Award nomination alongside famous musicians Ariana Grande, Drake, Britney Spears and more.

BTS is one of the contenders for a Shorty Award in the music category, given the Kpop group's strong social media presence. Other musicians that received the same nomination includes some of the Hollywood music industry's biggest stars such as Spears, Grande, Drake, as well as Missy Elliot, Chance the Rapper, Solange, Mac Miller, The 1975, Ingrid Michaelson, Twenty One Pilots and Tegan & Sarah, according to an announcement posted on the awards' official website.

For BTS, organizers of the Shorty Awards recognized the South Korean band for their popularity, hit albums, chart-topping tracks, including the various content uploaded on the group's social media sites, and others. Moreover, the seven-member boy band's achievements in Billboard charts such as the Social 50 list was also highlighted.

Meanwhile, the annual Shorty Awards honors some of the individuals, groups and organizations whose online social media activities on various platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Tumblr, Snapchat and YouTube left a lasting mark on critics and avid fans. Winners are determined through a scoring system coupled with the results of an online voting activity.

The 2017 awardees will be announced during the upcoming 9th Shorty Awards. The event will be held in New York City on April.

In other news, BTS is set to embark on a world concert tour to promote "Wings." Titled "2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour," the upcoming concert will take the Kpop group to various parts of the world including the U.S., Brazil and Chile.

Recently, the huge demand for tickets for the band's Chilean concert sparked a need for organizers to add a second performance date. Aside from the original March 12 schedule, ticket sales for a March 11 performance were also opened to the public, according to Chilean news outlet Agenda Musical, as cited by All Kpop.
