The Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon edition has been launched. It arrives to replace Redmi Note 3. Here is a comparison between the two to know the 7 reasons to upgrade to Redmi Note 4.

Design

The Redmi Note 4 and Note 3 both sport full metallic chassis. Unlike Note 3, the Note 4 features backlit capacitive buttons below the display. Also, the device is features a 2.5D curved glass, a feature that that is absent on Note 3. The Redmi Note 4 measures 8.3 mm in thickness whereas Note 3's thickness is 8.7 mm.

Processor

The Snapdragon 650 SoC powers the Redmi Note 3, but the Redmi Note 4 features a new Snapdragon 625 SoC that can be found on other smartphones such as Asus ZenFone 3, Moto Z Play, Oppo R9s, Lenovo P2 and Vivo V5 Plus. Compared to SD 650, the newer Qualcomm chip is more power efficient and delivers better battery life, Indian Gizmo reported.

New Variants

The Redmi Note 3 comes in two storage models. The 16 GB model features 2 GB of RAM whereas 32 GB model has 3 GB of RAM. The Redmi Note 4 comes in three storage variants.

There is no 16 GB model for Redmi Note 4. However, it has 32 GB storage model in 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variants. The 64 GB mode has 4 GB of RAM. Both phones support microSD card through hybrid SIM slot.

Camera

The Redmi Note 3 has a 16-megapixel camera on its rear panel whereas the Redmi Note 4's rear camera is of 13-megapixel. The Note 4's camera can capture photos with better color and lighting, BGR reported.

Battery

The Redmi Note 3 has a 4,050 mAh battery that charges quite slowly. However, the Redmi Note 4 comes with a slightly larger 4,100 mAh battery that carries support for fast charging. Moreover, the Note 4 can deliver 25 percent better battery life than Note 3.

Color Options

The Note 3 comes in Gold, Silver, and Dark Grey options. Apart from the usual Gold and Silver, Redmi Note 4 comes in a new color variant of Matte Black.

Pricing

The 16 GB Redmi Note 3 was priced at Rs. 9,999 and its 32 GB model costs Rs. 11,999. The 32 GB Redmi Note 4 with 2 GB and 3 GB RAM models are respectively priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 10,999. The larger 64 GB Redmi Note 4 is available for Rs. 12,999.
