Hong Kong actor Andy Lau was right in preferring light comedy over action movies. Even a drink commercial he was shooting in Thailand proved too risky for the 55-year-old star of “The Great Wall.”

Variety reported on Thursday that Andy Lau fell off a horse on Tuesday. But it was not just a fall because the horse he was riding became frightened and threw Andy Lau. The horse then stepped on his back. Because of the incident, filming of the commercial was stopped.

Pelvic Bone Laceration

As a result of the accident, Andy Lau suffered from a pelvic bone laceration. He was airlifted back to Hong Kong on Wednesday night in a medical flight that landed at midnight on a private tarmac at the Chek Lap Kok International Airport.

The Rakyat Post reported that Andy Lau was wheeled into the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital on a stretcher from an ambulance on Thursday, based on footage from local media. According to Yahoo, he had scars on the forehead and appeared daze while he lay stiff on the stretcher. Andy Lay had a face mask and a black cap on, and the rest of his body was covered by a blue blanket.

Ahead of his arrival, as early as 8:30 p.m., road closures between the airport and the hospital were set. News of the actor’s accident and arrival spread that even before the ambulance arrived, more than 100 journalists were waiting for Andy Lau.

Topman Global, one of the actor’s companies, said doctors took care of Andy Lay and everything is now fine. Andy Lau is definitely out of danger and had blogged, “Right now a medical team is taking proper care of me. I am doing well. Please do not worry. Thank you for your well wishes.”
