As the Great Heathen Army reaches the land of England, Lothbrok's sons are expected to seek revenge from King Ecbert and his son Aethewulf. Though the father and son will try their best to defend their region, the Vikings will still cause major panic throughout the country through an attack.
"Vikings" Season 4 Episode 19 is titled, "On the Eve." Though no specific details have been revealed yet, the upcoming episode was only hinted with the Vikings causing the English some trouble as they attack them. Though the reason for the attack was not revealed in the promo, King and Ecbert and Aethewulf is seen on high alert.
In episode 18, King Aelle mistakenly thought he could bring down the sons of Ragnar when he was attacked by them. But the English king was wrong when he was overpowered by Bjorn and Ivar which got him killed. It was seen in the previous episode that Aethewulf noticed the change in his father's actions, accusing him of acting into someone he did not see before, TV Fanatic reviewed.
According to the publication, Aethewulf noticed that Ecbert is not behaving like a king anymore. He pointed out his father was already distracted, withdrawn, unsure and hesitant. Ecbert on his part admitted he is already filled with doubts now that the Great Heathen army already infiltrated their country.
Though Ecbert and his son will try to defend England through an elaborate plan, the sons of Ragnar have a pretty motivating reason to defeat them which is revenge, CarterMatt reported. According to the report, the battle in episode 19 may layout the ground work for the season finale, or the finale becomes the aftermath of the episode.
It is also expected that the episode will showcase how Lagertha will defend Kattegat from Harald. In the past episodes, Harald was seen planning to take away the throne from Ragnar's widow. With his plan already set in motion, the outcome is expected to be revealed during the episode.
The same publication previously noted that Harald is no threat to Lagertha, and viewers may likely witness a defeat from Harald's side.
"Vikings" Season 4 Episode 19 is set to air on Jan. 25, Wednesday, at the History Channel. For more details and spoilers, check out the video below.
