Leipzig, who was promoted from 2. Bundesliga last season, has been struggling in the past several rounds of the German top flight competitions with two losses in their last three matches. The team has surrendered league leadership back to defending champions Bayern Munich and are now six points behind the Bavarians at second place in the standings.

In their most recent Bundesliga game on Dec. 21, Die Roten Bullen was thrashed by Bayern Munich, 0-3, on the road at the Allianz Arena to succumb to only their second loss of the season, as per Press TV.

Head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl's side was not able to respond with any goals against the defending champs especially after Swede winger Emil Forsberg was sent off in the 30th minute, giving them a one-man disadvantage for the rest of the match.

Three Bayern players netted one goal each during the game, namely Thiago, Xabi Alonso, and Robert Lewandowski in the 17th, 25th, and 45th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt is coming off a 3-0 rout of 10-man side Mainz at their home ground of Commerzbank Arena on Dec. 20, via Sporting Life.

Swede midfielder Branimir Hrgota netted a brace for head coach Niko Kovač's squad in the 18th and 85th minutes while German midfielder Aymen Barkok added one in the 75th to complete the hosts' three-goal haul.

The win snapped Die Adler's three-game winless skid as the team is now settled in the fourth spot of the league table, seven points below Leipzig and only a point behind third-running team Hertha Berlin.
