McDonald's, which is popular for its chicken nuggets, Big Macs, and triple cheeseburgers, might soon plate-in leafy green kale into its menu, the CNBC reported.

The "kale" news came up from Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, the fast-food chain's restaurant analyst. The full-service financial firm said that the restaurant is planning to add kale to their menu soon.

Mark Kalinowski, a restaurant analyst from the firm wrote, "McDonald's clearly aims to raise consumers' perception of the quality of its food," Fox News said.

Lisa McComb, the McDonald's spokesperson emailed The Times, saying "As we continue to listen to our customers, we're always looking at new and different ingredients that they may enjoy."

The plan to add the leafy kale into its menu came as a big surprise after the giant food chain suggested in its recent Big Mac ad that it will never serve Kale.

In the ad, the narrator is heard saying, "You can't get juiciness like this from tofu or quinoa. This is not Greek yogurt. Nor will that ever be kale." The statement was made with the video referring to its signature special sauce first, then to the lettuce.

Kale is the most recent sign that McDonald's is dedicated to innovate its struggling US franchises. In the previous week, it vowed to switch to chicken that were raised without the assistance of human antibiotics with the next years. Also, it plans to provide its customers with cow's milk that were not treated with an artificial growth hormone.

Mike Andres, the McDonald's USA units' President, emphasized the need for an internal, immediate change.
