The UFC's middleweight division is considerably one of the most exciting in all of mixed martial arts. It boasts talents such as Anderson Silva, Chris Weidman, and current champion Michael Bisping. It may be a while though before there is another shakeup in this division's power rankings as Bisping is set to be out of action for an extended period of time due to requiring knee surgery.

Bisping has been out of action for over four months now following a closely contested bout against UFC veteran Dan Henderson. His knee surgery will further add to his time out of the Octagon, as the earliest he is expected to return is in May, according to CBS Sports.

"Nothing major, just a clean up. I've got a slightly torn meniscus, a couple other things going on in there so I've got to get that knee surgery taken care of," Bisping told Fight Network about his upcoming knee surgery. He is set to undergo the operation within the next couple of weeks.

UFC officials have yet to confirm who Bisping's next opponent will be. There have been talks though of a champion vs. champion fight against the current welterweight king Tyron Woodley. This fight could not be far off, especially considering the success of the contest between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez back in UFC 205.

There have also been talks regarding Bisping defending his middleweight crown against Yoel Romero. Romero is currently on an eight-fight win streak, knocking out the likes of Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida along the way. Despite having to wait longer for his title shot, Romero took the news well and joked about how the champion potentially injured his knee on a Twitter post.
