Bryan Cranston's drama series "Sneaky Pete" gets renewed for Season 2 by Amazon. Its renewal comes less than a week after the full Season 1 debuted on Jan. 13 on Amazon's Prime streaming service.

According to Variety, "Power Rangers" veteran actor Cranston plays the crime lord Vince, who got Marius Josipovic in a vice in "Sneaky Pete." "A Film by Vera Vaughn" actress Marin Ireland (Julia), "Mercy Street" actor Peter Gerety (Otto Bernhardt), "Those Who Can't" actress Libe Barer (Carly), "Still Alice" actor Shane McRae (Taylor), and "Mr. Robot" actor Michael Drayer (Eddie) also star.

At first, Cranston was not listed as a cast member and did a cameo in the pilot and was supposed to be a guest star, Deadline reported. However, he went on to appear in every episode of Season 1. His stealth return to AMC drama series television post-"Breaking Bad" might have helped fuel the strong interest in "Sneaky Pete."

"Sneaky Pete" series follows a con-man Marius ("Avatar" actor Giovanni Ribisi) as he takes on the identity of a fellow prisoner named Pete ("Can't Hardly Wait" actor Ethan Embry), who wowed Marius with tales of his idyllic childhood. However, the family is maybe a little more Gallagher ("Shameless") than Brady ("The Brady Bunch"). Margo Martindale's character Audrey heads the estranged family.

Cranston co-created and executive produced "Sneaky Pete." "Justified" producer Graham Yost is not only executive producing but also the showrunner alongside Yost's fellow "Justified" executive producers Fred Golan and Michael Dinner, "All The Way" producer James Degus, and Seth Gordon, who directed the pilot, are also on board to executive produce. Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television are co-producing.

Amazon claims that "Sneaky Pete" was its second-most-streamed original scripted series during its premiere day, behind only "The Man in the High Castle. It was well received by critics and hails from Sony Pictures Television. The quick renewal comes on the heels of Amazon's decision not to pick up Season 2 of the studio's "Good Girls Revolt," putting some strain on the companies' relationship.

Cranston was recently seen as the Ranger mentor Zordon in Dean Israelite-directed "Power Rangers" reboot for Lionsgate, which is set to release on March 24. Joining him are RJ Cyler, Becky G., Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, and Dacre Montgomery as the Rangers.
