The new upcoming "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" DLC expansion pack is confirmed to have a different tone compared to the main series. As such, its developer, Naughty Dog, hopes that the game will stand out among the rest of the series.

In an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine UK, as cited by Power Up Gaming, creative director Shaun Escayg confirms that despite the fact that the new DLC will still be in context with the "Uncharted" world, it will be tonally different. After all, he remarks that India is the perfect setting for "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy."

The setting gives off a lot of good iconography with its hidden temples and strange deities, which certainly gives a lot of avenues for the developers to play off. Also, game director Kurt Margenau confirms that the core gameplay experience will deviate from "Uncharted 4," but details are still vague at this time.

Margenau said that while they do not want to give away too much, the gameplay is something they are excited in, especially that it will be a contrast between an urban setting and a rural setting. Basically, it could be either a tighter experience or a more open experience.

Escayg added the reason why "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" will be released as a standalone story expansion rather than simply a piece of DLC for the "Uncharted 4" game. "Lost Legacy" started off as a mere DLC, but they needed a longer period of time in order to develop its story, thus the decision.

Meanwhile, there are rumors of another "Uncharted 4" DLC pack featuring Nathan Drake's brother Sam getting his own story, according to Game Rant. After all, the game saw an immense amount of success within its first year of release, so it is expected for it to get more DLCs in the future.

"Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" will be released within 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4. Here is the game's announcement trailer:
