Nokia China has confirmed that a Snapdragon 830 chipset powered smartphone is in works. It is now speculated to arrive later in the year to take on the likes of Google Pixel 2 and iPhone 8
It seems that Nokia China has spilled the beans on its Snapdragon 835 SoC flagship on Webo, Nokia Power User reported. According to the publication when a fan asked for a high-end smartphone to Nokia China on its Weibo account, it revealed that a Snapdragon 835 chipset powered smartphone is in works and the company needs some to prepare it.
Nokia has recently released the Nokia 6 smartphone in China. Since then the rumor mill is speculating on the flagship device from Nokia. The company will be present at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 on Feb. 26. It is expected to announce a new flagship phone.
During the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2017 that was held earlier in this month, Qualcomm was rumored to have placed Snapdragon 835 powered Nokia 8 flagship smartphone at its booth. However, the U.S. based chip maker denied the rumors and stated that those devices were not Nokia's upcoming flagship.
Since fresh information coming from Nokia China suggests that the company will take some time to release its flagship smartphone, it is likely that it will be arriving in the second half of the year to rival against smartphones like Google Pixel 2 and iPhone 8.
Rumors have it that the flagship smartphone will be called Nokia 8 or Nokia Supreme. However, other rumors suggest the flagship smartphone is codenamed as Nokia P1. The alleged smartphone is said to be based on an older Japanese smartphone called Sharp Aquos Xx3, Phone Arena reported.
Speculations suggest that the Nokia P1 will be arriving with a 5.3-inch IGZO screen from Sharp that will be shielded by Gorilla Glass 5. The display is said to support an amazing refresh rate of 120 Hz. Its display resolution not known yet.
The P1 is expected to be powered by SD 835 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. It is rumored to come with two native storage choices of 128 GB and 256 GB. Its main camera is rumored to be of 22.6-megaipxel. It will be enabled with numerous likes OIS, autofocus, and 4K video shooting. The P1 is launch pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat and it will be coming with 3,500 mAh battery.
