The midseason finale of "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 featured several emotional and suspenseful moments such as Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) leaving Owen (Kevin McKidd), Richard (James Pickens Jr.) confronting Miranda (Chandra Wilson) about Eliza (Marika Dominczyk) and others. Aired in mid-November 2016, the said episode also showed Jo telling Alex about her abusive marriage and that she has been hiding from her violent husband.

Jo's confession was enough to change Alex's mind about what he plans to do with his ongoing legal case. With thoughts to take the plea bargain that will land him in jail for two years, Alex appears ready to face prison time instead of having Jo testify in court that may expose her whereabouts to her estranged husband.

Meanwhile, Jo's abusive husband might make an appearance in an upcoming "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 episode. In an interview with TVLine, Luddington teased that the said character could potentially appear at the end of the ABC medical series' current season.

The actress shared that the said speculated scenario could likely happen just when Jo and Alex's relationship reached a more stable level. Moreover, upcoming episodes will be focused on the two characters trying to survive from the "desperate situation" that Alex found himself in, according to the British star.

Luddington also shared a similar comment during an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly where she described Jo as a strong woman who is not willing to let go of everything that she achieved since leaving her abusive marriage. The actress even conveyed her anticipation in a potential encounter between Jo and her husband especially if it will help her character gain some closure over her personal demons.

However, Luddington was quick to clarify that she has no idea whether the ABC show's writing team will introduce Jo's violent spouse in an upcoming episode. She stated, "I have absolutely no clue what the latter half of the season holds. I feel like we have to meet him though."

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 will air its midseason premiere on Jan. 26, Thursday, on ABC. Watch a clip from the said episode below:
