In 1983, Streep's "Sophie's Choice" performance earned her the Best Actress award, which she won again in 2012 for her performance in "The Iron Lady." In 2015, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Into the Woods" but lost to "Boyhood" actress Patricia Arquette.

Streep played the title role in the 2016 biopic "Florence Foster Jenkins," which was written by Nicholas Martin and directed by Stephen Frears. The film also starred Hugh Grant, who told E! News that "the legend of Meryl Streep is intimidating" and he "was frightened by that."
