"Battleship Island" fans, rejoice. The first full-length trailer for the upcoming occupation-era film is finally here, showing off Hwang Jung Min as Lee Kang Ok, So Ji Sub as Choi Chil Seong and Song Joong Ki as Park Moo Yeong.

On Jan. 25, Wednesday, distributor CJ Entertainment dropped the film's first full-length trailer through Naver TV. The 1-minute long trailer offers a lens into the chaos that ensues in the Hashima Island after 1,000 Koreans risk their lives to attempt an escape from the undersea coal mines.

Set during the Japanese colonization of Korea (1945), the movie centers on Lee Kang Ok, Cho Chil Seong and Park Moo Yeong. The former is a hotel bandmaster who was tricked into a job offer in Japan, but was sent to the Hashima Island instead, while the second one is said to be a martial arts master who used to be in control of Jongno capital.

Lastly, Park Moo Yeong is an independent soldier who sneaked onto the 16-acre island to save a key member of their independence group.  Besides Hwang, So and Song, "Battleship Island" also star Lee Jung Hyun as Mal Nyun, Yoon Dae Yul as a Japanese pimp and child actress Kim Soo Ahn as So Hee.

"'Battleship Island' was hard to shoot," Korean newsoutlet Focus News quoted director Ryoo Seung-Wan as saying before a group of local media. "The experience was painful. We still have a long way to go."

Since it requires a lot of computer-generated imagery (CGI), it will take two or three months more to edit and fine-tune the highly-anticipated film. While there is no definite date when would it be released, speculations are rife that "Battleship Island" would be presented through ScreenX technology in order to give viewers spectacular scenes of the Hashima Island.
