“Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki is considered now the biggest star in South Korea and China. If big TV and film projects, such as the upcoming movie “Battleship Island” come his way, it is also because he gives so much to charity.
On Wednesday, Soompi reported that the 31-year-old actor hosted a pizza party at the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital. As endorser of Domino’s Pizza, Song Joong-ki took part in the volunteer project. He not only made the sick children, their families and the hospital staff smile and enjoy pizza, the actor also donated money.
Charity Donor
Song Joong-ki donated 100 million won, or $86,000 to the hospital’s Hope Sharing Fund, Korea Herald reported. The money came from his own pocket.
Over the years, Song Joong-ki had donated regularly a lot to different charities. Among the recipients is the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation where he has been a fund donor since 2011. In 2016, he donated all of his talent fee for guesting in “Hurry Up, Brother.”
Chinese Variety Show Guesting
In April 2016, he was seen at a duty-free shop in Seoul to film for “Hurry Up, Brother,” the Chinese version of “Running Man,” a popular variety show in South Korea where Soong Joong-ki was a cast member before he did “Descendants of the Sun.” He appeared on the Chinese show along with other Korean actors such as Kim Jong Kook, Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, Ha, Gary and Ji Suk Jin, Design&Trend reported.
Im Hyung Taek, the producer of “Hurry Up, Brother” and former producer of “Running Man,” had been inviting Song Joong-ki to the Chinese show for a long time. Blossom Entertainment, Song Joong-ki’s talent agency, agreed for the actor to guest to show its close relationship and loyalty to the former producer.
