The action game "Alice Madness Returns" can now be played in the Xbox One. This is attributed to its inclusion to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program.

The news is confirmed by Xbox Live Programming Director Larry Hryb, who took to Twitter to announce the inclusion of "Alice Madness Returns" to the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program. It can be purchased through the Xbox Live store for $20, but those who own a used copy can play it through their Xbox One console.

Before "Alice Madness Returns," the Xbox 360 games added to the Backwards Compatibility program were "Midway Arcade Origins," "Mutant Storm Empire," and "Tekken 6," according to Game Spot. As always, players who own the game beforehand will automatically have the games added to their Xbox One library. With this, a total of 13 games were released for January alone.

"Alice Madness Returns" was first released in 2011, developed by Spicy Horse and published by Electronic Arts. It is a platformer game that primarily re-imagines the "Alice in Wonderland" story in a much grittier, nightmare-inducing way. It has unique gameplay elements as well as traditional hack-and-slash mechanics that allow the main protagonist, Alice, to cut her way through hordes of monsters that threaten to kill her.

Meanwhile, the new set for the Xbox Games with Gold for February 2017 has been announced. According to the official Microsoft Xbox Website, the list will include "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime," "Project Cars Digital Edition," "Monkey Island 2: Special Edition," and "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed."

Xbox One users will get "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime" for the whole month while "Project Cars Digital Edition" will only be available from Feb. 16 to March 15. As for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 console users, "Monkey Island 2" will be available from Feb. 1 to Feb. 15 while "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" can only be grabbed from Feb. 26 to Feb. 28.
