Square Enix and Marvel Entertainment have recently announced that they will collaborate to make games together.  This will span several years and it will start off with an "Avengers" title.

According to Game Rant, a lot of people were expecting Square Enix to announce something related to "Final Fantasy" to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first game. However, instead of announcing the event or updates on one of its successful titles, the developer posted a video trailer detailing their partnership with Marvel to create the "Avengers Project."

The trailer highlights the phrase "#Reassemble" along with various iconic weapons wielded by the Avengers. The state of neglect and disarray these items portray could point into the game's setting: in a timeline where the Avengers are split up or neutralized by one or more villains.

The first game's development will be handled by Crystal Dynamics, which developed the massively successful "Tomb Raider" reboot. It is also possible that Eidos Montreal will help in the development, the team behind "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided."

The degree of success exhibited by the two development teams could mean a bright future for the "Avengers Project." For now, it is unclear if the studios will still be in charge for the rest of the games included in the collaboration deal.

According to CNET, Marvel revealed some vague hints of the "Avengers Project" on their YouTube channel, but after a while they deleted the notes. Regardless, the text suggested that the games will be packed with characters, settings and events that thrilled Marvel fans worldwide.

The text also promised that an original story will be introduced for the gamers to play on and shape as they wish for the years to come. More details will be posted soon, most likely before 2017 ends.
