Production for the upcoming Marvel film, "Black Panther," has officially started. With the forward movement on the film, Marvel Studios has released the synopsis and the full cast list of the movie.

Both the synopsis and cast list were released in an official press release, acquired by /Film. The synopsis reads as follows:

"'Black Panther' follows T'Challa who, after the events of 'Captain America: Civil War,' returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T'Challa's mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk."

Chadwick Boseman returns to play T'Challa aka Black Panther and will be accompanied by Michael B. Jordan as the villain Erik Killmonger. Lupita Nyong'o portrays Nakia, Danai Gurira plays Okoye, Daniel Kaluuya plays W'Kabi, Angela Bassett plays Ramonda and Forest Whitaker portrays Zuri.

The cast list also confirms that Martin Freeman will reprise his role as Everett K. Ross and Andy Serkis is returning as Ulysses Klaue. Florence Kasumba also returns as Ayo. Winston Duke has been cast as Man-Ape, Sterling K. Brown as N'Jobu and Letitia Wright in an unknown role.

Although not mentioned, both Captain America (Chris Evans) or Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) have a possibility of appearing in "Black Panther," Collider reported. Both characters fled to Wakanda by the end of "Captain America: Civil War."

In the original Marvel comic books Killmonger was once known as N'Jadaka. His father aided Klaue in attempting to dethrone the king. This rebellion failed and T'Challa exiled N'Jadaka. The latter found his way to New York and later trained both mind and body to become a worthy rival to the Black Panther.

"Black Panther" releases in theaters on Feb. 16, 2018. The trailer for "Captain America: Civil War," in which Black Panther made his debut, can be viewed below:
