Conor McGregor is proving to be a hot commodity not only in the sport of MMA, but now also in boxing and apparently professional wrestling. After a $25 million fight with Floyd "Money" Mayweather fell through, the WWE are now looking to sign McGregor up, telling the two-division MMA champion to simply name a price.

As WrestleMania looms closer and closer, it may come as no surprise that the WWE are trying to get the biggest names in sports entertainment to appear at their annual extravaganza. In past years, notable names such as Muhammad Ali and Shaquille O'Neal have made appearances at "the grandest stage of them all."

McGregor is currently on a hiatus from his mixed martial arts career, as he expects to be a father some time later in the year, according to News.com.au. However, this has not stopped the WWE from approaching him. A source close to McGregor explained that talks have taken place, but that an appearance is highly unlikely due to the previously mentioned situation no matter how hefty an offer is placed on the table.

If a WWE appearance does happen in the near future, the fighting Irishman will not be the UFC athlete to cross over. Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has made a WrestleMania appearance before, and is now being touted for a career in professional wrestling following MMA retirement talks. Talks of her hanging up her gloves for good with come as a result of her recent string of two knockout losses in the UFC.

WWE vice president Triple H has recently talked highly of McGregor, saying that he is an entertainer with the complete package of skill and personality. Talks of McGregor making an appearance at this year's WrestleMania were heightened when he decided to throw verbal jabs at the entirety of the WWE roster, with a number of comments in particular directed to multi-time world champion John Cena.

"I think these WWE guys, they're not right in the head some of them. I mean the new guys are dweebs, let's be honest, absolute dweebs," McGregor said during a UFC media event, as cited by MMA Weekly. He then proceeded to call John Cena a fat and failed 40-year old during the same interview.
