"Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas" is officially launching for the Nintendo Switch. The game was scheduled to launch for a Nintendo console but the developers at FDG Entertainment did not announce last year which system it was coming out for.

FDG Entertainment tweeted the announcement in response to a fan asking about the game's potential release. This will be the first time the game will release for a Nintendo console, having released on the Xbox One and PS4 but not on the Wii U.

No specific release date was announced but it is not expected to launch until later in the year. This would be beneficial for consumers, however, given how "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is releasing with the Switch in March.

Graphically and mechanically the game is very similar to "The Legend of Zelda" franchise, particularly "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker." Similarities include cartoony graphics, third-person action and puzzle systems, hearts for life and a strong emphasis on sailing across different islands.

Just like "The Legend of Zelda," the core mechanics revolve around travelling to different dungeons and solving their puzzles or defeating a boss to progress through the story. Through each new location the Hero will gain a new item, like a bomb, that can be used to solve more puzzles or access new locations.

No mention of the game's sequel, "Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm," Dual Shockers reported. The sequel is planned for the PC and mobile devices but the developers have yet to make any announcements for console launches.

Although the sequel will retain the same strong focus on action-RPG mechanics, an adventurous story and the blend of puzzles and item use it will change camera perspectives. While the first game used a more top-down perspective, the sequel will be a full third-person action title, Gamespot reported.
