The 2020 Tokyo Olympics' energy level could be off the charts this time. The news came out that Akira Toriyama's famed Saiyan will be spearheading the event's roster of commissioned mascots to be its official ambassadors.

The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), has just rendered the services of Son Goku to be their ambassador for the next Olympics. Fans can expect that the iconic anime character will be spotted more often promoting the quadrennial sporting event.

Albeit being the strongest in the "Dragon Ball" mythos, Son Goku cannot do such task all by himself. The organization's Japanese arm also tapped other well-known anime characters to carry out the task at hand.

Alongside Son Goku will be the insanely flexible pirate captain - Monkey D' Luffy from Eiichiro Oda's "One Piece," Masashi Kishimoto's Uzumaki Naruto, "Sailor Moon," the mischievous Shin Chan, "Pretty Cure," Jibanyan from "Yo-kai Watch." "Astroboy" from the legendary father of Manga - Osamu Tezuka, is also included in the aforementioned slew of anime heroes, according to Comicbook.

In line with this, JOC's official website has already posted quite a number of Olympics merchandise showcasing the recently appointed mascots. Such items include shirts, caps, bags, mugs, and even ID laces.

Some anime enthusiasts, however, have noticed that both Pikachu and Mario were not included on the official list. It can be recalled that the latter was featured at the Rio Olympics when Brazil handed over the Olympic duties to Japan in hosting the said event.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics may still be way off, but the upcoming "Universal Survival Arc" in "Dragon Ball Super" will be just days away as Son Goku is all beefed up in going up against other powerful champions from different universes. The show's new arc will be aired this Feb. 5 with episode 77 dubbed "Let's do it, Omni King! The Universe's Greatest Martial Arts Tournament!!"
