Samsung issued on Wednesday invitations for a press event on Feb. 26 at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. The event would be to unveil a new device, expected to be the Galaxy Tab S3.

The invitation has a black backdrop and the outline of a smartphone believed to be the Galaxy Tab S3. Only the date and time of the event were specified in the press invite but not the product which the Seoul-based tech giant would roll out, Tech Times reported.

Samsung Delays Galaxy S8

Samsung normally unveils its flagship at MWC, however, the tech giant had indicated that it delayed the release of the much-anticipated Galaxy S8 to avoid a repeat of the Galaxy Note 7 which cost Samsung billions of dollars. But BGR hinted the Galaxy S8 would be shown briefly at the press conference.

Among the indicators that it would be the Galaxy Tab S3 that Samsung would announce on MW 2017 are the device has received FCC and Wi-Fi certifications. In January, it was benchmarked by GFXBench which offered a first glance on the upcoming tablet’s specs and features.

Specs from GFXBench Listing

The GFXBench listing says the Galaxy Tab S3 would have a 9.6-inch FHD screen (2048 x 1536) and would be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor that clocks at 2.1GHz. It would have 4GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage capacity, plus a Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU.

For camera, reports indicate the Galaxy Tab S3 would sport a 12 MP back shooter with FHD video recording and a 5MP front camera also capable of FHD video recording. The back camera could support autofocus, face detection, flash and touch focus. Its OS would likely be the Android 7.0 Nougat.

If the Galaxy Tab S3 would be the product to be launched on Feb. 26, it would be a high-end option to the Galaxy Tab S2 released in 2015.
