Major companies including Hollywood studios are lining up to get a 30-second spot on the heavily-viewed "Super Bowl" event. Disney has already confirmed two TV spot slots for its upcoming films "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

It is unlikely Disney would go for a TV spot that will be longer than the standard 30 seconds allowable per ad. The company is expected to reveal new clips from the highly awaited "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which will be out this year.

Previously, Marvel had released a "sneak Peek" teaser at last year's San Diego Comic-Con in October. While there was not much to take away from the clip, Marvel made up for it in December 2016 when it released a full-teaser trailer featuring Baby Groot and Mantis.

With the "Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2" April 2017 release date fast approaching, fans can expect more teasers coming from Marvel. So far, fans have not had a first-look at Kurt Russell's Ego, a key character in the sequel, thus it is possible that the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" "Super Bowl" TV spot would involve him.

Fox increased the price for 30-second TV spots this year, selling for an average of $5 million per ad. Last year, slots were sold for up to $4.8 million, Deadline reported. However, this is becoming a riskier investment for companies as the average viewership per game last year was lower by 8 percent compared to 2015. The 2016 rating was also lower than the 2014 numbers by 6 percent.

Other movies that are expected to show a new TV spot during this year's "Super Bowl" event include "A Cure For Wellness" and "Logan." Paramount reportedly secured a spot as well, and it is either for "Baywatch" or "Transformers: The Last Knight." No slot was taken by Warner Bros.

Meanwhile, there are rumblings that Marvel is developing a standalone "Groot" movie. Vin Diesel, who portrays Groot, hints that Marvel is working on a spin-off movie for the adorable tree creature.

"It's something that James Gunn has talked about and something that I knew he would love to do," The Guardian quoted Diesel as saying. He adds that there is still so much to learn about the character and it would be interesting to see more of his home planet.
