The "Rick and Morty" show co-creator Dan Harmon took to Twitter to address the issues regarding the series' Season 3 release date delay and as well as other concerning subject matters. The "Rick and Morty" fans were waiting patiently for over a year now to see the new episodes of the series as the show was expected to be released in 2016; however, there were no dates set yet for the shows' third season run premiere.

Harmon explained during the Sundance Film Festival that the delay of the show was caused by both him and his co-creator Justin Roiland.

"Rick and Morty" keeps taking longer and longer to write and I don't know why," Harmon says.

Harmon also admitted that there have been more creative struggles as he and Roiland map out the show, considering that Rick and Morty has become a critical darling and a fan favorite.

Furthermore, Harmon also apologized to the show's fans at the Youtube's pop-up space in Park City, Utah. IndieWire reported that the series' co-creator has no date set for the release of "Rick and Morty" Season 3.

After the series' second season run ended in October 2015, Harmon and Roiland were joking about making Mr. Poopy Butthole announce that the release of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 would be after 18 months or so. Rumors say that Mr Poop Butthole's prediction of an April 2017 release date is a plausible one. Now the joke has become a more self-fulfilling prophecy than a self-aware recognition, Cinema Blend reported.

According to IndieWire, while it is common that it takes time for shows to have a lengthy hiatuses as creators take time to get the creative juices flowing and getting it right as a whole. The explosion in new outlets and platforms has also been keeping writers and producers busy as they work on multiple projects.

Moreover, a spokesperson from Adult Swim also confirmed that there were no premiere timing to share to the fans as "Rick and Morty" is still deep into production. The show is said to air 14 episodes for Season 3; however, there was no confirmation from Adult Swim on that said count.
