Nina Dobrev's return to "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 has already been confirmed. But even though she has already been on the set of the hit The CW series, the actress still has not reunited with Ian Somerhalder.
Dobrev plays the role of Elena Gilbert in the show, and Somerhalder plays the role of Damon. The two characters were in a relationship with each other before Elena was killed off. This means that Elena's return guarantees a reunion between her and Damon.
But there are rumors that Dobrev and Somerhalder prefer not to hang out on the set of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 until it is time for them to rehearse their scenes and start filming.
Even though Dobrev previously said that she is friends with Somerhalder even after their break up, the actor could also be protecting his marriage to Nikki Reed. Ever since Dobrev left "The Vampire Diaries" at the end of Season 6, rumors started swirling that she left because Reed made her uncomfortable on set.
The "Twilight" star, who was still part of "Sleepy Hollow" at that time, was always on the set of "The Vampire Diaries" watching over Somerhalder's every move. However, none of these claims were ever confirmed or denied by Dobrev, Somerhalder and Reed.
Meanwhile, Dobrev does not really care about Somerhalder and Reed's marriage. Following their wedding, the actress even said that she is happy for the two of them. Dobrev has also moved on from Somerhalder by dating other guys, but their relationships were just short-lived.
In other news, Dobrev will only be part of the finale episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. The actress is expected to reunite with his onscreen dad, John (David Anders) in episode 16. Matt Donovan's (Zach Roerig) sister, Vicki (Kayla Ewell) will also return to the finale. Elena will also have the chance to see her brother, Jeremy (Steve R McQueen) for the last time in the episode.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
