"Yong-Pal" star Kim Tae-Hee married her longtime boyfriend Rain on Jan. 19. After their low-key wedding, the 36-year-old actress has explained why she opted for a private ceremony.

After five years of dating, Kim and Rain finally tied the knot at the Gahoe-Dong Catholic Church in Seoul. Instead of an extravagant ceremony, the wedding was a quiet one that had a few members of the couple's immediate family, close friends, and heads of their management agencies.

In a recent sit-down interview with the local media, as cited by Soompi, the actress revealed they have been mulling over at least two ways on how to announce the wedding. They could have announced it to the media and invite everyone they knew to a large-scale wedding or hold a top secret wedding and release the photos afterward.

In the end, Kim and Rain opted for a small and intimate wedding ceremony after considering the current economic status of South Korea. While they felt sorry they could not invite many guests, they hope others understand their choice and intention.

"We didn't want to hold an overly fancy wedding when the current economic situation is so difficult," Kim explained. "We were apologetic that everything was so secretive. That's why we made sure to at least appear in front of the public when we left and came back from our honeymoon."

Kim also opened up about her newlywed life with the singer. For the time being, she and Rain are currently living with the latter's family in Cheongdam-Dong. While they have no immediate plans to start a family, the veteran actress assured her fans and supporters that she would let them know if there is good news to share in the future.

Kim, who gained widespread fame from 2003's "Stairway to Heaven," is said to be prepping for a full blast comeback on the television screen soon. A source told Korean newsoutlet Star News, "She will soon be meeting viewers with a new drama or movie soon."
