According to the Synopsis, the X-Men will be facing their greatest challenge yet as one of their own teammates Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) will gain a power that his beyoned her comprehension and has completely corrupted by it. Now the uncanny team of mutants must choose between saving the world that fears and hates them at the coast of one of their own.

With that in mind, it seems that the next "X-Men" film will be tackling the "Dark Phoenix Saga" as Jean's Phoenix Force powers first emerge during the X-Men's battle with En Sabah Nur/Apocalypese (Oscar Isaac) during the events of "X-Men: Apocalypse".

The Phoenix first appeared in "X-Men: The Last Stand" film and Jean Grey was played by Famke Janssen back then. The Phoenix in the film was killed by Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) as a last attempt to save Jean from herself and her darkside.

It is also revealed that "X-Men: Supernova's" working title is called "Dark Phoenix" which is a nod to the X-Men comic book storyline "The Dark Phoenix Saga" written by Chris Claremont and drawn by John Byrne.

“The Dark Phoenix Saga” followed Jean Grey’s possession and eventual corruption by the cosmic entity called the Phoenix Force. The storyline took the X-Men into space and pitted them against the Imperial Guard of the Shi’ar Empire in trial by combat for Jean’s life. “The Dark Phoenix Saga” ended tragically with Grey sacrificing herself to make sure that the Dark Phoenix did not possess her again, ComicBook reported.

Fox's "X-Men" film franchisewill continue in the form of "Logan","Deadpool 2", "New Mutants" and possibly the "X-Force" film. There is also another X-Men TVs series being developed by Fox joining "Legion" TV series in the line-up.

"X-Men: Supernova" has no release date yet.
