Universal Pictures executives have reportedly forbidden the "Fifty Shades Darker" cast in making any sexual references to promote their upcoming film. The bosses wanted to build up the movie more on its romantic theme rather than its erotic side, to which people perceive the franchise now.

During her interview with Page Six, cast member Marcia Gay Harden confirmed the news by revealing that she used to tweet naughty things to tease fans but has stopped since the order.

"I used to send out some naughty little tweets, along the lines of this 'sweater clasp,'" Harden revealed. "And I was told by Universal that I couldn't do it anymore, but I'll tell you one anyway," the Oscar winner added.

Harden, who plays the mother of BDSM-obsessed Christian Grey, recalled how fans responded when she tweeted a picture of a sex toy with a message addressed to Christian. It said, "Dear Christian, thank you so much for that lovely bracelet under the Christmas Tree. Perhaps it wasn't meant for me."

The actress recalled how it fueled a lot of fun from fans' responses while reiterating that she is a "good girl" because she followed the executives' order. In the end, the Oscar winner admitted that Universal bosses do not want them to be overtly sexual in interviews since the film is originally a love story.

Meanwhile, lead star Dakota Johnson admitted she had to take several shots of whiskey in order to properly film her sex scenes with co-star Jamie Dornan, The Sun reported. The 27-year old actress admitted it was a "pre-game ritual" she and Dornan had to execute because filming the steamy scenes are not exactly easy.

Despite this, Dornan revealed it has become more comfortable for both him and Johnson since they have become close since filming the first film. "We've got a great sort of love and respect for each other," the 30-year old actor revealed. "We're great friends and I think that makes it easier, you know? So it's definitely more comfortable."

"Fifty Shades Darker" is set to have its United Kingdom premiere on Feb. 9, Thursday, before opening to screens on Friday. Watch the trailer in the video below.
