The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the heavily rumored and most awaited smartphones of 2017 that is scheduled to launch in March. The LG G6, one of the major rivals for Galaxy S8, is expected to launch around the same time. Here is a comparison of the two topnotch smartphones based on their specifications, features, and release date.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. LG G6: Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be sporting an improved design compared to Galaxy S7. It is expected to house a 5.8-inch dual-edge curved screen that is expected to cover the major portion of the front panel.  The fingerprint sensor of the device has been moved to the backside for making more space for the display of the phone.

Like Galaxy S7, it will be arriving with an IP68 certified chassis. Its display will carry support for quad HD resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. After the failure of LG G5, the South Korean company has confirmed that the LG G6 won't feature a modular design, but it will be packed in a IP68 certified metal unibody. The LG G6 will be equipped with an elongated screen of 5.7 inches that will support a strange aspect ratio of 18:9. The unusual display will deliver a quad HD+ resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels, Phone Arena reported.

Qualcomm has reportedly allotted the first stock of Snapdragon 835 chipset to Galaxy S8. Hence, smartphones that are going to launch before Galaxy S8 are unlikely to feature the next-generation SoC. The LG G6 is slated to launch before Galaxy S8. Hence, rumors are claiming that the device will be either powered by Snapdragon 820 or 821 chipset.

The Galaxy S8 is expected to come with 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. It is also expected in storage models of 64 GB and 128 GB. The LG G6 will come with 64 GB native storage, but there are no details whether it will house a microSD card slot in its metal unibody design. It also rumored to feature 6 GB of RAM.

A 12-megapixel "duo pixel" rear camera is expected to be available on backside of Galaxy S8. Its front is expected to feature autofocus enabled 5-megapixel selfie camera. The fingerprint scanner is also located on the rear side. Leaked specs suggest that it would be sporting a 16-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual rear camera. On the front, it may feature a 12-megapixel snapper.

Both smartphones will be loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS and its appearance will be customized with proprietary user interface from Samsung and LG. Rumors have it that the Galaxy S8 would be coming with a 3,250 mAh battery. The LG G4 came a removable 3,000 mAh battery and its successor came with a smaller 2,800 mAh battery. Speculations indicate that the LG G6 may arrive with a 3,000 mAh battery and its internal heat dissipation pipe will prevent the device from getting hotter.

The base model of Samsung Galaxy S8 is pegged to cost $849 and the LG G6 is expected to cost around $700 at launch. The Galaxy S8 is expected to be unveiled in March 29 and will be available for buying in mid-April. On the other side, the LG G6 will be unleashed on Feb. 26 and it will go in sale in the U.S. on April 7, Gizmo China reported.
