Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has less love for the North as Jamie Lannister in "Game of Thrones" but he is exactly opposite in real life. He teamed up with Google's Street View team to collect imagery of the changing landscape of Greenland where the climate change impact is seen firsthand. It is likewise for everyone to explore the country through Google Street View.

Coster-Waldau, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, wants to highlight what impact climate change has done to Greenland. On his most recent trip to the autonomous Danish country, the actor brought along a Trekker camera to provide a first-hand sight of the country, where ice is melting dramatically.

"Year after year we've seen record high temperatures across our planet due to global warming," Coster-Waldau said in his documentation published on Google's official blog. "And Greenland is changing faster than anywhere else on Earth."

The 46-year-old Danish actor considers Greenland as his family's second home. He wants people to actually see the meaning of climate change in real life and in real time.

In Greenland, the places which were once ice-covered have become bare. As its landscape changed, its economy starts to suffer. The changing patterns of melting and freezing ice have disrupted the hunting and fishing lifestyle of its people.

The ice-covered Qoorog Fjord has the world's second most huge ice sheet which is melting rapidly. It pours 300 billion tons of ice into the ocean every year, harming local food, water supplies and vital coastal ecosystems. It contributes big time to rising sea levels.

The year 2016 was the warmest across the Arctic in over a century. Such was a result of natural weather variability as well as climate change.

The "Game of Thrones" Jamie Lannister actor enjoined everyone to protect the planet since it affects everybody. He asked that each should learn about how to combat climate change and take action.

Everyone can help combat climate change by saving electricity, turning off unused appliances, going paperless by avoiding to print digital information and by paying bills online. It is also great to buy from companies that are eco-friendly and do not harm the environment, according to the United Nations.
