Arsene Wenger is one of the longest serving managers of any football club in the world. He has led Arsenal to various domestic successes in England as well as helping them to a Champions League runner-up place in 2006. However, after over 20 years in charge of the North London club, it could be high time he called it quits.

Arsenal were hoping to lead a charge to the title this season, after it was proven last time around that even the largest of underdogs can secure the Premier League title. This, coupled with the fact the club have made new signings in Lucas Perez and Granit Xhaka, among others, meant that Wenger and his team were seen as viable candidates to win an English Premiership crown for the first time since 2004.

However, their recent 3-1 loss to Chelsea saw them fall a full 12 points behind the league leaders. Despite the fact that they have managed to gain a bit of ground on the teams currently leading the league, they still find themselves nine points behind Chelsea, who currently find themselves at the top of the table.

With one year left on his contract, Wenger may now be thinking about retirement. Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright has revealed that he recently spoke with the Arsenal boss about the club's managerial situation. "[Wenger] actually mentioned that he is coming to the end [and] I have never heard him say that before," Wright told the BBC in an interview.

Wright clarified that Wenger did not explicitly say that he would be leaving once his contract expires, but did give of the impression that he would be going to. This means that Wenger could sign on for a couple more years. However, Wright further stated that he believes this would not be the case, as he thinks the Arsenal players have let their manager down badly.

There are certain Arsenal stars; however, that Wright has been vouching for over the past couple of seasons. One such player is midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who Wright believes should play the entire 90 minutes each game, but has yet to secure a place in the first team. Wright has revealed that he felt frustrated when Oxlade-Chamberlain was substituted less than 10 minutes before full time in Arsenal's recent match against Hull City, according to the Express.
