The Arizona Cardinals will have Carson Palmer back next NFL season, an assurance that the team will have a veteran quarterback for the 2017 NFL season. Palmer’s announcement follows the previous commitment of Larry Fitzgerald who will also be returning

As mentioned in a previous report, Fitzgerald confirmed that he is ready for one more run after rediscovering his fire to play football. That alone could be the spark that the Cardinals would need to make a serious run next NFL season, AZ Central reported.

However, Fitzgerald was only half the foundation needed for a potential Super Bowl run for the Cardinals. Until recently, many were under the impression that the 37-year-old Palmer was in the crossroads and hanging it all up.

It turns out that Palmer simply needed some time off to recollect and regroup following a bruising 2016-17 NFL season. He had his moments down the stretch, proving to one and all that he still had the arm Arizona would benefit from.

Coach Bruce Arians is aware of the beating that Palmer had to endure. Palmer was sacked 40 times in 2016 alone, the fifth-most in NFL history. The 37-year-old took the necessary time off to determine if he could still mentally and physically play the game, NFL.com reported.

Like Fitzgerald, it seems that Palmer has found renewed interest for at least one more season. Both believe they have a phenomenal group to lead, excited for the road ahead. It remains to be seen if all these would be enough for the team to reach the Super Bowl next NFL season.

Worth noting as well is that Carson Palmer’s $15.5 million contract is now guaranteed. Also, it helps Arians move on to other concerns such as getting players to fill in key positions. This would include a wide receiver which could come from the free agent market or the 2017 NFL Draft.

Both Fitzgerald and Palmer may be on their last run together, hopefully capping their career with a Super Bowl championship. Aiding them will be the likes of Patrick Peterson, Tyler Matthieu and Chandler Jones plus possibly more depending on the moves of the Cardinals this NFL offseason.
