Tom Clancy's "Ghost Recon" series of video games is one of the most popular available today, although it has not seen a major release since 2014. Ubisoft is now expected to release the next installment of this series on March 7 in the form of "Ghost Recon Wildlands." The game's developer and publisher has also recently revealed that ther game's narrative was made in collaboration with New York Times bestselling author Don Winslow and Hollywood screenwriter Shane Salerno.

"Wildlands" story is centered on Special Forces operatives and their attempt to take down one of the largest and most dangerous drug cartels in the world. Upon release, it will be playable on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as well as on Windows-operated computers. Those who purchase the game for the PC will be able to experience the added features of the unique Tobii eye-tracking software for better aiming and visual marker placement in-game.

The game is set to be the first open-world game in the franchise, allowing players to use parachutes, dune buggies, dirt bikes, and the like to traverse a multitude of environments including salt flats, forests, as well as deserts. It will also feature a dynamic interaction system with non-playable characters; meaning how players communicate with other people in the game has a major effect on its outcome.

"I've written about drug cartels for more than twenty years and together with my writing partner [Salerno] have brought that knowledge to the story, scenes, characters and dialogue found in 'Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands,'" Winslow said in an exclusive interview with Dual Shockers. Salerno added to his partner's statement, saying that he has been a Tom Clancy fan since "The Hunt for Red October" and that it really meant a lot for him to be working on this particular project.

Ubisoft has confirmed that an open beta for "Wildlands" will be launched soon after the closed beta left gamers clamoring for more of the game's content. It was announced that the bet would take place during Ubisoft's latest earnings call, although no exact time or date was given, according to the Express. There will be new areas to explore in the upcoming release.
